Accountant Position

The RMI is the largest employers' and business representative organisation in the South African Retail motor industry, with more than member establishments covering all sectors of the retail motor industry, as well as the vehicle body building and component manufacturing sectors.

We are currently looking for an Accountant to join our organisation.

This position will be based in Gauteng (Midrand). The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient management of all finance activities and related reconciliations on the full trial balance of the RMI and Associations.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Keeping strict and appropriate records to run both internal and external audits.
  2. Statutory payments on behalf of RMI.
  3. Balancing all accounts and resolution of all tax-related queries.
  4. Maintaining full records related to vendors including BBBEE and POPIA compliance.
  5. Controlling stock and fixed assets for the entire RMI and ensuring adequate insurance cover for all assets.
  6. Managing all finance activities related to payroll and benefits.
  7. Providing financial reporting to identified stakeholders.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  1. All financial reconciliations including balance sheet and income statement accounts.
  2. Tracking stock correctness, finding reasons for differences, and completing reconciliations.
  3. Controlling and monitoring all fixed assets.
  4. Ensuring full insurance cover on all RMI assets, including cybersecurity, and submitting any claims.
  5. Full database function, including an understanding of the RMI Constitution and the application thereof.
  6. Service provider tracking and administration based on the approved RMI Procurement Policy, including SLA's, BBBEE, and POPIA.
  7. Checking and verifying all vendor reconciliations prior to sending through for approval and payment.
  8. Financial reporting on all aspects of the administration function.
  9. Controlling fleet cards, commissions, and other staff benefits for inclusion in payroll.
  10. Completion, checking, and submission of statutory returns.
  11. Monitoring and controlling internal and external audits.

Desired Experience & Qualification:

Minimum Qualifications: B Com Degree or 3-year accounting diploma OR qualified by extensive experience (NQF6 / 7)

EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years financial experience.
