Our client within the financial sector requires an accountant.
Your Accounting Degree (BCom or BCompt (Acc)), as well as completed articles with a minimum of 4 years' experience in an accounting function, will enable you to perform the following duties :
- Financial Reporting : Prepare, examine, and analyze financial statements to ensure accuracy and compliance with legal, regulatory, and organizational standards.
- Bookkeeping : Record financial transactions, post debits and credits, manage accounts payable and receivable, and reconcile bank statements.
- Budgeting and Forecasting : Develop and monitor budgets, assist with financial planning, and provide projections based on historical data and future trends.
- Auditing : Conduct internal audits to assess financial controls, risk management procedures, and compliance with policies. Coordinate with external auditors during annual reviews.
- Tax Preparation and Compliance : Prepare and file tax returns, ensure compliance with tax legislation, and assist in the development of strategies to minimize tax liabilities.
- Cost Analysis : Analyze and report on financial performance, identify cost-saving opportunities, and support management in strategic decision-making.
- Payroll Administration : Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate calculation of wages, tax withholdings, and benefits.
- Accounts Reconciliation : Reconcile ledger accounts and resolve discrepancies promptly and accurately.
- Regulatory Compliance : Maintain a thorough understanding of applicable laws and regulations, ensuring all financial practices adhere to the required standards.
- Financial Advice : Serve as a consultant to management by offering insights and recommendations to improve overall financial efficiency and profitability.
- Document Management : Organize and maintain comprehensive financial records and documentation for internal use and regulatory review.
- Liaison and Communication : Collaborate with colleagues across departments, external auditors, tax advisors, and other stakeholders.
