Job Description:
- Financial Record Keeping & Reporting
- Assist in the preparation of financial information up to trial balance
- Ensure timely entry of transactions into accounting software (Business Central)
- Maintain accurate financial records for all farm/agricultural activities
- Daily processing of bank accounts, full responsibility for the debtors function, review monthly payments, and processing of month-end journals
- Ensure all balance sheet accounts have proper reconciliations completed, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, assets, and bank
- Assist in preparing the monthly management accounts
Budgeting & Forecasting:
- Assist the Head of Finance with the development of annual budgets and financial forecasts in collaboration with farm managers or owners
- Assist with cash flow forecasting to ensure liquidity for operations and investment
Cost Accounting & Analysis:
- Track costs associated with crop production, livestock management, machinery, labour, and other inputs
Taxation & Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with company policies, regulations, and laws
- Maintain proper documentation for audits and inspections
Payroll & HR Accounting:
- Approval of bi-weekly wage payment files
- Process monthly salary and wage journals
Inventory & Asset Management:
- Maintain fixed asset register
- Calculate depreciation and manage asset replacement planning
Qualifications:
- BCom in Management Accounting, Finance, or Accounting
- CA, CIMA, or SAIPA qualified
- 2+ years of accounting experience; agricultural industry experience highly preferred
- Knowledge of agricultural practices, seasonal cycles, and associated cost structures
