A well-established Telecommunications company in Durban is seeking an Accountant to manage full accounting functions, prepare VAT returns, and assist with financial reporting. The ideal candidate should have a BCom degree and at least 3 years of relevant experience, with knowledge of Xero and Pastel being advantageous.

Job description

Our client, a well-established Telecommunications company based in Durban, is looking to fill the position of Accountant.

Key Responsibilities :

1. Perform full accounting functions.
2. Process cashbook entries.
3. Make journal adjustments.
4. Load online banking payments.
5. Prepare VAT returns and perform reconciliations.
6. Review work of creditors clerks.
7. Assist with invoicing and credit notes.
8. Manage cash flow.
9. Assist in compiling monthly management packs.
10. Prepare general accounting reports as required.
11. Maintain the fixed asset register.
12. Process journals for installment sales.
13. Perform ad hoc accounting tasks to support the Senior Financial Accountant.
14. Handle intercompany calculations and invoicing.
15. Conduct intercompany balance checks.

Qualifications and Experience :

1. Grade 12 Senior Certificate.
2. BCom General / Accounting Degree.
3. Minimum of 3 years relevant experience.
4. Experience with Xero and Pastel is beneficial.
