A leading engineering group seeks an Accountant to oversee financial recordkeeping and reporting in Centurion. The role requires expertise in accounts payable and receivable, compliance, and team management, necessitating at least a Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting. Our client is a specialised, privately held engineering group with a global mining footprint. They focus on the fast-tracked design and construction of minerals processing plants, primarily in developing countries and Tier-1 jurisdictions.
Their cross-disciplinary team of geologists, mining engineers, and process engineers collaboratively assess ore bodies, maximise deposit value, and prioritise risk minimisation.
Job description:
As part of this dynamic team, you will ensure that all financial recordkeeping duties are completed on time, including bookkeeping, accounting, reconciliation, and financial reporting up to trial balance for a dedicated area.
Qualifications and minimum requirements:
• Bachelor's degree in finance or accounting
• At least 5 years of experience
• Post-article accounting or financial management
• Computer literacy
• Knowledge of local and international taxation
• Experience with international finances, including transfer pricing
• Project costing and cost control
Key Performance Areas:
• Accounts Payable
o Lead and manage the end-to-end accounts payable process.
o Reconcile supplier accounts.
o Manage exceptions in accounts payable issues with suppliers.
o Ensure compliance with VAT regulations.
• Accounts Receivable
o Issue customer invoices.
o Send customer statements.
o Reconcile customer payments.
o Follow up on outstanding payments and escalate as necessary.
• Month-End Procedures
o Assist in preparing management reports.
o Reconcile inventory, payroll, fixed assets, suppliers, customers, VAT, and taxes accounts monthly.
• Expense Analysis
o Analyze month-to-month variances.
o Compare budget to actual expenses.
o Work alongside the Cost Controller to support the project team.
• Compliance
o Ensure timely submission of all relevant compliance reports.
• Team Management
o Develop and manage the finance team to meet objectives.
o Set targets and monitor performance.
o Oversee hiring, training, and performance management.
o Provide coaching and mentoring.
• Reporting
o Ensure accurate and timely reporting.
o Contribute to budgeting and forecasting.
• Ad Hoc Duties
o Support annual/bi-annual stock takes.
o Assist with audit preparations.
