Job summary

A dynamic accounting firm is seeking an experienced Accountant for an in-office role in Cape Town. The candidate will handle bookkeeping, compile management reports, draft financial statements, and ensure compliance with SARS. The ideal applicant will possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting and strong proficiency in accounting software including Xero and Pastel. This role is well-suited for someone with at least three years of experience in a similar environment.

Qualifications

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting or tax firm.
  • Familiarity with SARS processes, including eFiling and handling disputes.

Responsibilities

  • Handle full bookkeeping to trial balance using Xero and Pastel.
  • Prepare and submit VAT201 returns through eFiling.
  • Draft annual financial statements for various entities in CaseWare.

Job description

An innovative firm providing accounting, tax, and advisory services to help businesses gain financial clarity and grow is seeking an Accountant for an in-office role.

As an Accountant, you’ll be involved in delivering comprehensive accounting and tax services to diverse clients, requiring proficiency in accounting software, strong Excel skills, and current knowledge of SARS compliance, submissions, and correspondence.Key Responsibilities:

  • Handle full bookkeeping to trial balance using Xero and Pastel

  • Compile monthly management reports

  • Prepare and submit VAT201 returns through eFiling

  • Draft annual financial statements for various entities in CaseWare

  • Calculate and file provisional and annual income tax returns

  • Perform reconciliations of general ledger, debtors, creditors, and bank accounts

  • Communicate with SARS on clients’ behalf for queries, verifications, and objections

  • Provide financial and tax support and maintain communication with clients

  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and IFRS for SMEs standards

  • Stay updated on tax legislation changes and SARS procedures

Qualifications and Experience:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or related field

  • SAIPA/SAICA/ICB articles completed or in progress

  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in an accounting or tax firm

  • Familiarity with SARS processes, including eFiling and handling disputes

  • Strong proficiency in accounting software, particularly Xero

Salary:
  • R25 000 - R35 000 / month
