Our client, based in Claremont, Cape Town, is seeking a qualified and experienced Accountant to join their finance team. The ideal candidate will hold a degree in Accounting or Financial Management, with 3 to 5 years of solid finance experience (excluding article-only experience). Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is essential. The role requires someone who works well under pressure, is committed to meeting deadlines, and brings an audit mindset with a strong understanding of risk management. A keen eye for detail, along with strong problem-solving and investigation abilities, will ensure success in this role.

REQUIREMENTS :

DUTIES :

  • Support the accounting function for the business
  • Accurately and efficiently capture and report transactions
  • Prepare and review financial transactions and reports
  • Compile and prepare monthly and year-end reconciliations
  • Identify and report accounting or reporting issues
  • Investigate and resolve outstanding queries related to accounting issues or reconciliation
  • Provide operational involvement in the credit control and retention process
  • Process on the policy administration system while considering the impact on operational processes and clients
  • Prepare and send out monthly reports for insurers, reinsurers, and intermediaries
  • Recalculate premium transactions to check the accuracy of system data
  • Perform group scheme member premium reconciliations and liaise with groups to resolve differences and arrears
  • Perform reconciliation and completeness checks between the line of business system and data warehouse reports
  • Prepare and / or review statutory reporting
  • Contribute to the enhancement of systems and processes to improve financial management
  • Build and maintain relationships with clients and internal and external stakeholders
  • Participate in and contribute to a culture that builds rewarding relationships, facilitates feedback, and provides exceptional client service within the organization

HOURS :

  • Monday to Friday : 08 : 00 – 17 : 00
  • Hybrid position but 1st 3 months will be in office
