This role requires a person with technical expertise in mechanical and electrical engineering, combined with strong commercial acumen.

The primary function of the Account Manager is to manage the relationship between the company and its clients, ensuring that contractual commitments are fulfilled and mutual expectations are met throughout the contract duration.

The Account Manager will develop tailored approaches for each client to foster strong, lasting relationships. They will serve as the main contact for key client matters, anticipate client needs, ensure deadlines are met, and support client success.

They will work closely with various internal departments to maintain and enhance client relationships.

They represent the full range of the company's solutions.

The Account Manager will lead the account planning cycle, ensuring client needs and expectations are addressed.

Key Performance Areas
  1. Developing relationships with clients, especially with key stakeholders and sponsors.
  2. Conducting key stakeholder meetings.
  3. Resolving client requests, issues, and complaints.
  4. Understanding client needs and proposing solutions.
  5. Managing communications between clients and internal teams.
  6. Gathering, reporting, and communicating client feedback on service, technology, and project delivery.
  7. Strategic planning, contract negotiation, and managing internal budgets.
  8. Collaborating with sales to maximize profit through up-selling and cross-selling; tracking key account metrics.
  9. Preparing and presenting reports on account progress and goals.
  10. Analyzing client data, expanding relationships, and acquiring new clients in collaboration with the Finance team.
  11. Coordinating with Operations and Engineering on equipment maintenance, response times, and installation proposals.
  12. Maintaining complete CRM data to facilitate quarterly business reviews.
  13. Conducting quarterly account planning and face-to-face monthly touchpoints with clients.
  14. Achieving over 80% contract renewal rate with over 80% revenue retention and zero credit notes.
  15. Delivering monthly savings reports and responding to exception reports within 72 hours.
  16. Signing up at least 4MW of new business annually within existing clients.
  17. Conducting bi-annual NPS surveys with scores above 80%.
Requirements
  • Graduate degree or diploma in a relevant field with related experience.
  • Proficiency in English and at least one other South African official language.
  • Minimum of 5 years of client management experience, demonstrating quick learning and development aptitude.
  • Proven track record of maintaining satisfied customer relationships.
  • Extensive CRM expertise.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Significant sales experience with a history of exceeding targets.
