Account and Regulatory Controller – Leading Asian Bank (Johannesburg Office)

About the Role
A leading Asian bank with a global presence is seeking an experienced Account and Regulatory Controller to manage general ledger maintenance, operational account management, and regulatory reporting. The role requires a highly ethical, detail-oriented professional with strong financial control expertise and the ability to manage multiple responsibilities within tight deadlines.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Head of Finance and Accounting, ensuring compliance with both domestic and international financial regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Perform daily reconciliations of production data and ensure accurate financial records.
2. Maintain and control debtors / creditors, expense ledgers, and budget tracking.
3. Manage and reconcile fixed and intangible asset schedules, including journal postings.
4. Download and reconcile daily bank statements with the general ledger.
5. Process payments promptly while maintaining optimal operational account balances.
6. Ensure the bank account is adequately funded for salaries and vendor payments.
7. Assist with daily and monthly regulatory reporting to meet compliance requirements.
8. Prepare and submit monthly reports to Head Office.
9. Maintain structured document storage (hard and electronic copies) for compliance.
10. Serve as secretary on key committees, recording and minuting meetings.

Required Qualifications & Experience

1. Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field (Essential)
2. Master's Degree or CA (SA) qualification (Preferred)
3. 5 years in a commercial bank or as an auditor in an accounting firm.
4. Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial controls.

1. Strong financial control and reporting background
2. Excellent organizational and time management skills
3. Ability to work in a highly regulated banking environment
4. Fluency in Mandarin (spoken & written) – Required
