Job description

Engineering Manager

The Engineering Manager is responsible for developing and implementing company engineering policies and standards, providing specialized engineering knowledge, and ensuring effective asset management.

The incumbent will implement and ensure execution of a standardized asset lifecycle management approach and maintenance management system across the organization. They will drive standardization and coordinate spare parts management and maintenance planning.

Responsibilities:

  1. Develop strategies to improve the quality of engineering services, performance, and operational efficiency.
  2. Establish systems for optimal asset care and continuous improvement in maintenance applicable to plant and services.
  3. Approve engineering designs and project specifications to ensure compliance with engineering principles, standards, statutes, codes, and regulations.
  4. Define policies and compliance procedures, perform inspections and audits to ensure adherence to proper procedures.
  5. Prepare clear and organized reports on complex engineering concepts, standards, or regulations.
  6. Draft and develop standards, rules, and legislation.
  7. Provide expert consultation on engineering standards for broad scope projects or programs.
  8. Participate in setting long-term engineering and project management strategic goals.
  9. Drive standardization and coordinate spare parts management and maintenance planning.
  10. Develop and monitor KPI frameworks with manufacturing leadership, reviewing performance against standards, and providing feedback to management.
  11. Collaborate with Capex project management to develop technical specifications for new plant and machinery purchases.

Performance Metrics:

  • Machine uptime percentage (breakdown hours per day)
  • Maintenance cost per standard unit of production
  • Maintenance consumable cost
  • Maintenance cost savings (% achieved versus target)

Qualifications:

A minimum of 5 years' experience in a similar role, preferably in FMCG, with expertise in maintenance management and project management.
