3rd Line IT Support Engineer required inCape Town.

Are you a skilled IT professional with strong 3rd line support experience and a passion for solving complex technical challenges? We’re looking for an experienced 3rd Line Support Engineer to join our Cape Town-based team.

You’ll support clients across the UK, Europe, the US, Asia, and South Africa both remotely and onsite when required.

Location: Cape Town, South Africa (Hybrid).

Type: Full-time | Level: Senior Support (3rd Line).

Working Hours: Aligned to UK and SA business hours, with occasional flexibility required.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1st to 3rd line support via phone, email, and remote tools to a global client base.
  • Attend onsite visits to troubleshoot and implement IT solutions (SA-based clients).
  • Resolve hardware issues and coordinate with third-party vendors as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Microsoft technologies (cloud and on-premises), as well as various third-party applications.
  • Collaborate with the professional services team on complex technical issues and assist with project delivery.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation of all systems and network configurations.
  • Participate in technical presales support, design, and project scoping.
  • Deliver outstanding customer service, going the extra mile when needed.

Examples of Work You’ll Be Doing:

  • Building Hyper-V high availability replication environments.
  • Deploying high availability network security appliances.
  • Upgrading legacy server environments.
  • Troubleshooting network performance bottlenecks.
  • Designing and building new office site networks.
  • Managing and executing infrastructure change requests.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policy, DHCP, and DNS.
  • Advanced experience in networking: VLANs, VPNs, Firewalls, Cybersecurity, IP routing.
  • Hands-on experience with wireless network technologies.
  • Backup technologies (e.g., Veeam, MSP360, LiveVault) – both cloud and on-prem.
  • Virtualisation expertise, specifically with Hyper-V.
  • Solid background in infrastructure monitoring and alerting to ensure uptime.
  • Understanding of enterprise endpoint protection systems.
  • Proficiency in Windows Server (2012R2 through 2022) and current Windows OS.
  • Working knowledge of cloud platforms: Microsoft 365, Azure, AWS, and Google Cloud (AWS/Google Cloud experience is advantageous).
  • Familiarity with SIP/IP telephony.
  • Exposure to compliance, policy documentation, and user training.

Desirable Certifications / Experience:

  • Certifications with Microsoft 365, HP, Fortigate, SonicWall, or Dell.
  • Experience with Autotask PSA and RMM tools.
  • Microsoft SharePoint configuration skills.
  • Project Management and/or Presales experience (preferred but not essential).
