Job summary

Placements24 is seeking a highly skilled 3D Animator specializing in character animation to join their prestigious Stellenbosch studio. You will bring characters to life through expressive performances for feature films, games, or animated series.

Collaborate with rigging artists and the production team to translate direction into believable movement, timing, and emotion while contributing to animation pipelines and continuous learning.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a 3D Character Animator with a strong demo reel showcasing exceptional animation skills.
• Proficiency in industry-standard 3D animation software such as Maya, Blender, or 3ds Max.
• Deep understanding of animation principles, including timing, spacing, weight, and form.
• Experience with character rigging and an understanding of how it impacts animation is a plus.
• Strong artistic eye and ability to convey emotion and personality through movement.
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to receive and implement constructive criticism.

Responsibilities

• Create high-quality character animations, focusing on believable performances, weight, and emotion.
• Interpret and implement feedback from animation directors and supervisors to refine animations.
• Work closely with rigging artists to ensure character models are properly prepared for animation.
• Collaborate with the wider production team to ensure animations are integrated seamlessly into the overall project.
• Maintain a keen eye for detail in movement, timing, and staging to enhance storytelling.
• Contribute to the development of animation pipelines and workflows.
