Job summary

Anglo American in South Africa seeks a Month Planning Engineer to develop the three-month mine plan aligned with the 12-month budget, guiding weekly planning horizons for loading, hauling, drilling and blasting. The role sits in the TIPG department at Band 6 (D-Lower) reporting to the Section Manager Operational Planning.

Ideal candidates have 3–5 years in mine planning, proficiency in Xecute, Surpac, and MicroStation, and relevant mining legislation knowledge.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 is required.
• National Diploma in Mining Engineering is required.
• B Tech Mining Engineering or Mining Engineering Degree is preferred.
• SA Driver's Licence Code B is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage a safe and healthy work environment where workers and contractors can deliver outputs within a controlled risk environment.
• Meet mining objectives by ensuring planning systems are current and aligned with the 12-month plan.
• Ensure the 3-month mine plan has sufficient detail to construct weekly plans for loading, hauling, drilling, and blasting.
• Ensure that the monthly plan caters to blending and ore flow (crushing and stockpiling).
• Adjust plans according to operating conditions, geological deviations, plant needs, etc.
• Create terms of reference to specify inputs into monthly plans and consult with stakeholders for productivity assumptions.
• Identify opportunities to improve short-term planning processes to minimise changes and maximise stability.
• Ensure plans align with Mine Health and Safety Act and mine regulations within budget.
