Qualifications

Job description

Vacancies exist for 2x Admission Clerk based at Life Fourways Hospital, reporting to the Admission Supervisor, Nelly Malinga. The successful candidates will be responsible for the effective running of the administration unit and will be required to be a part of a professional team that is continuously striving for the highest standards of quality in healthcare in a high-tech environment.

Critical Outputs
  • Maintain a well-run, professional and patient-focused admission environment.
  • Manage the accuracy of the admission process and the prevention of potential risk factors.
  • Synergy and teamwork – working closely with credit controllers, case managers, reception staff, and doctors.
  • Liaising with medical aids to obtain authorization for admission.
  • Manage the risk for the hospital by adhering to all related protocols.
  • Ensure quality care to all patients is maintained.
  • Operating switchboard.
  • Handling money and receipting.
  • Collection of co-payments, private fees when applicable, as well as related documentation.
  • Performing general administration duties involved in the pre-admission of patients.
  • A&E billing and submission of accounts.
  • Assist with the confirmations process when required.
  • Working knowledge of COID funder rules.
  • Carry out admission and receptionist duties for the hospital.
  • Performing administrative duties involved in the admission of patients.
  • Admitting patients onto the Impilo system.
  • Assist with daily banking and the handling of monies.
  • Liaising with the medical aids to obtain authorization for admission.
  • Working 12-hour shifts - Day and Night Shift.
  • Adhering to the protocols of the hospital and company.
  • Adhering to the procedures of the department.
  • Assist with other tasks as assigned by the Line manager.
Requirements
  • Grade 12 or Level 4 equivalent qualification.
  • Computer literacy.
  • Knowledge of Imeds and Impilo advantageous.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in dealing with people.
  • An enthusiastic, motivated, punctual & well-organized individual with initiative and ability to handle pressure. Must be able to work shifts (day or night) and overtime as required.
  • Must be customer service oriented.
  • Own or reliable transport due to the nature of shift work.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a prerequisite. Teamwork essential.
  • Prior knowledge and experience of admissions and medical terminology would be advantageous.
  • Understanding of the private healthcare industry, its challenges, and role players would be an advantage.
  • Bilingual with proficiency in English, both verbal and written, and the ability to communicate effectively.
  • Previous clerical experience to meet the critical outputs.
  • Sound knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite Skills.
