Job summary

Remote Choice is seeking a hands-on 2nd Line Service Desk Engineer to join a growing MSP team in South Africa. You will own complex escalations across multiple customer environments, with exposure to Microsoft 365, Azure, security, networking, and backup technologies.

You’ll mentor junior engineers and help enhance service desk processes while delivering high-quality support. You will work with ConnectWise and RMM tools to manage tickets and maintain accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years' experience in an MSP environment.
• Strong administration and troubleshooting skills across Microsoft 365.
• Experience with Windows 10/11, Windows Server, Active Directory and Group Policy.
• Good networking knowledge: TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, VLANs, VPNs and firewalls.
• Experience with Microsoft Azure environments.
• Hands-on virtualization with VMware or Hyper-V.
• Experience installing, configuring, and managing security, backup, and BCDR solutions.
• Experience with service desk ticketing systems and RMM tools.
• Strong communication skills; ability to explain technical issues to non-technical users.

Responsibilities

• Provide 2nd line IT support via telephone, email, remote sessions and occasional on-site visits.
• Take ownership of tickets escalated from 1st line support and ensure timely resolutions.
• Assist with smaller customer projects including onboarding and Microsoft 365 migrations.
• Mentor and support 1st line engineers; contribute to internal knowledge base.
