PURPOSE OF POSITION

  • The 1st Housekeeper assists the Executive Housekeeper in the efficient and safe organization and operation of the housekeeping department.
  • Provide support and cover for the Executive Housekeeper during absence.
Your Responsibilities

  • Manage daily activities of the Assistant Chief Housekeepers and housekeeping staff.
  • Prepare and revise work schedules for approval by the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Monitor performance, enforce standards, and ensure quality compliance.
  • Conduct performance appraisals and manage disciplinary procedures in collaboration with the Executive Housekeeper.
  • Maintain communication with the Executive Housekeeper and act as liaison with the team.
  • Support team development, cover managerial shortages, and organize luggage handling.
  • Coordinate technical issue resolutions and ensure inventory and supplies are maintained.
  • Prepare reports, logs, and checklists, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Inspect guest areas and ensure safety and cleanliness standards are met.
  • Lead and support a multicultural team, fostering satisfaction and retention.
  • Conduct daily team meetings and provide feedback and updates.
  • Ensure high standards of guest service, hygiene, and cleanliness.
  • Provide leadership, conduct reviews, and ensure compliance with safety and maritime regulations.
  • Maintain personal and team grooming standards and secure property.
  • Adapt to various working hours, work under pressure, and uphold a positive attitude.
  • Ensure team knowledge of itinerary and shipboard activities.
  • Contribute to KPI goals and participate in safety, health, and security training and inspections.
YOUR PROFILE

  • Minimum 2 years experience as a 1st Housekeeper or similar in a 5-star hospitality environment, with ship operation experience of over 500 staterooms; leadership experience in a multicultural team required.
  • Fluent in English with excellent communication skills; additional languages are advantageous.
  • Guest-focused, professional, with a keen eye for cleanliness and detail; strong motivational and coaching skills.
