Job summary

MD Inc. requires an Independent Medical Practitioner for emergency unit duties, with on-call shifts and CME participation. The role covers day duty management and on-call roster commitments in a private practice setting.

The candidate must hold HPCSA registration, have ATLS/ACLS/APLS, and maintain malpractice insurance. DipPEC plus recent ALS training is advantageous for this position.

Qualifications

• Must be registered with the HPCSA as an independent medical practitioner.
• Must have Emergency Medicine related courses such as ATLS, ACLS, APLS/PALS.
• Must hold Malpractice Insurance covering Accident and Emergency in Private Practice (MPS preferred).
• DipPEC qualification with up-to-date Advanced Life Support courses is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Render medical services to the client at the affiliated emergency unit with respect, diligence, professionalism and integrity.
• Honour all shifts personally chosen.
• Manage patients admitted under EC when on day duty.
• Be available for 2nd on call duties on the roster when needed.
• Attend all CME activities arranged by MD Inc and remain current in ACLS/ATLS/APLS.

Job description

• To render medical services to the client at the affiliated emergency unit with respect, diligence, professionalism and integrity and in accordance to this contract between MD Inc and the independent medical practitioner.
• To personally honour all shifts chosen.
• To manage the patients admitted under EC when on day duty.
• To be available for 2nd on call duties on the roster when the need arises.
• To attend all the CME activities arranged by MD Inc for its employees and to remain current in the official advanced life support courses and topics relating to emergency medicine.

REQUIREMENTS

• Start Date: ASAP
• Registered with the HPCSA as an independent medical Practitioner
• Must have Emergency Medicine related course such as ATLS, ACLS, APLS/PALS
• Malpractice Insurance which covers Accident and Emergency in Private Practice. MPS Preferably.
• DipPEC qualification coupled with 3 up-to-date Advanced Life Support Courses (advantageous)

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

• To work at least a minimum of 160hrs or 180hrs a month, which will comprise of at least 2 weekends
• Locum rates for hours worked in excess of contractual hours
