Job summary

Kiwa PPI is seeking an experienced Mechanical & Rotating Equipment QA Inspector to support the restoration of an existing facility in Venezuela. The role covers QA oversight across static and rotating equipment, ensuring compliance with project specs, procedures, ITPs, and standards.

The inspector will review documentation, monitor equipment storage and testing, and coordinate with contractors and inspectors to close NCRs and ensure quality throughout commissioning and startup.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) required.
• Certifications such as API 510, API 653, API 580, API 936, or similar are preferred.
• Minimum 10 years of experience with a Degree OR 15 years with a Diploma in a similar role within Oil & Gas.
• Hands-on inspection/testing experience with static equipment (pressure vessels, columns, heat exchangers, etc.).
• Hands-on inspection/testing experience with rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, etc.).
• Familiarity with international codes (ASME, ASTM, API, AWS, ISO, BS EN, IOGP, Shell DEP, MESC).
• Formal QA/QC training and QMS Internal Auditor certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA inspections and surveillance during manufacturing, assembly, erection, installation, testing, pre-commissioning, and commissioning.
• Ensure compliance with project specifications, ITPs, procedures, and standards.
• Review drawings, procedures, qualification records, calibration certificates, and inspection documentation.
• Monitor material receipt, equipment storage, and related documentation.
• Track on-site and off-site equipment fabrication and testing; identify non-conformances and support corrective actions.
• Witness inspection and testing activities to confirm quality.
• Oversee inspection equipment calibration and certification validity.
• Support review of Method Statements, JHAs, QCPs, and ITPs.
• Participate in quality walkthroughs and NCR closures.
• Coordinate with contractors, inspectors, and construction teams to ensure quality.

API 510/653/580/936 certifications

CSWIP 3.2 / AWS-SCWI

BGAS Grade 2 / NACE Level 2

NDT Level II (RT, MT, UT, PT)

QA/QC training and QMS Internal Auditor certification
