EDGE Group PJSC is seeking a Firmware Engineer for its space-sector activities, focusing on low-level embedded software for satellites and RF payloads. You will ensure real-time performance and robust operation across the mission lifecycle in collaboration with hardware and system teams.

ABOUT THE ROLE

As a Firmware Engineer at FADA you will design, develop, integrate, and verify low-level embedded software for satellites and RF payloads to ensure reliable hardware control, real-time performance, and robust operation throughout the mission lifecycle.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the development, integration, and debugging of firmware for satellite and SDR payload embedded systems.
• Contribute to hardware bring-up, low-level software validation, and interface testing.
• Assist in the preparation of technical documentation, software descriptions, and test procedures.
• Participate in laboratory verification and troubleshooting activities to support reliable system performance.
• Work closely with digital hardware, software, RF, and system engineering teams to support end-to-end payload integration.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• Brilliant and motivated graduates, PhD students, PhDs in the faculties of engineering, physics, mathematics, computer science, interested in the position of Firmware Engineer to be included in the company operating in the space sector.
• Availability for national and international travel. The job requires frequent travel abroad to the partner facilities.
• Good knowledge of the English language.
• Desirable Master degree in Computer Science, Electrical & Electronic, Telecommunications Engineering or similar.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Familiarity with VIVADO toolchain.
• Foundation in embedded C/C++ for low-level and real-time applications.
• Basic understanding of microcontrollers, SoCs, or FPGA-based embedded platforms.
• Familiarity with hardware interfacing, drivers, and digital communication protocols (I2C, UART, SPI, CAN, PCIe, Ethernet communications bus).
• Interest in SDR payloads, digital signal processing chains, and embedded system architecture.
• Ability to support firmware integration, debugging, and testing in the lab.
• Awareness of good coding practices, version control, and structured development methods.
• Understanding of reliability and robustness needs in mission-critical and space systems.
• Willingness to learn about space constraints such as radiation effects, fault tolerance, and verification rigor.
• Ability to work collaboratively with hardware, software, and system engineering teams.
• Good analytical skills, attention to detail, and a hands‑on approach to problem solving.
• Python language, LabView
• Knowledge of laboratory instruments (i.e. oscilloscope, bus analyzer, etc.)
