Job summary

ICEYE in Valencia is seeking an RF Test Engineer to join the Experimentation Lab. You will capture real emissions from radar, AIS, satcom and other emitters, and build a playback chain to feed a channel simulator.

You’ll develop test hardware and Python automation, calibrate measurements, and ensure safe operation while collaborating with the simulation team to validate end-to-end RF capability. This is an hands-on role for one of the first lab engineers, with direct influence on how ICEYE

Qualifications

• Hands-on RF measurement with spectrum analyzers, vector signal generators, SDRs and oscilloscopes.
• Experience building or integrating RF record/playback or hardware-in-the-loop test systems.
• Solid DSP fundamentals: sampling, I/Q, filtering, channelisation, Doppler and timing effects.
• Python (or equivalent) for automation and instrument control using SCPI/VISA and SDR APIs.
• Calibration discipline: reference planes, path loss and phase characterization with defendable uncertainty.
• Clear written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

• Capture real emissions from various emitters and record them with proper bandwidth, range and timing.
• Characterise captures and document metadata, with truth for reuse.
• Build and calibrate RF record/playback chain and multi-emitter playback path.
• Develop channel simulator path with per-satellite delay, Doppler, path loss and interference.
• Develop test hardware, fixtures and Python control code for automated measurements.
• Inject signals into test setups and align RF stimulus with simulations for validation campaigns.
• Ensure operations are lawful and safe with regulator and site safety compliance.
