Summary: As an Ophthalmic Technician, you will perform various pre-exam diagnostic tests, collect and update patient health information, educate patients about their appointments, and ensure high-quality care during visits. Responsibilities & Duties:

  1. Welcome and establish rapport with patients.
  2. Initiate patient evaluation, document chief complaints, medical history, ocular findings, and ensure compliance with guidelines.
  3. Educate patients on the purpose of tests and procedures.
  4. Perform pre-exam tests including visual acuity, visual field, extraocular muscle assessment, pupillary evaluation, tonometry, dilation, OCT, and other tests as requested.
  5. Assist in patient flow and clinic operations.
  6. Maintain knowledge of eye terminology, anatomy, pathologies, and pharmacology.
  7. Uphold ethical, effective, and professional standards.
  8. Follow proper triage protocols.
  9. Handle opening and closing duties, ensure exam rooms are stocked and clean.
  10. Maintain a safe and orderly environment for patients and staff.
  11. Proficient in EHR systems such as NexTech IntelleChartPRO and familiar with practice management software (NextGen).
