Job Description

The Machine Operator is generally accountable for effectively operating the machines to produce products at the set quality standard and ensuring that the equipment is efficiently operated in accordance with established Company procedures. The Machine Operator is also accountable for promoting a safe and clean environment.

1. Obtains orders/schedule and instructions from Production Supervisor before start of production shift.
2. Set-Up machine as per orders/schedule.
3. Always ensures that the machine has material and other inputs before operating. Any shortfalls are reported to the Supervisor.
4. Reports to the Production Supervisor any operational issues with the machine.
5. Inspect and ensure the finished products obtained from the machines are of the quality standards of the company, i.e. free of defects which may deem the product substandard.
6. Reports to the Production Supervisor and Quality Technician any defects observed with raw material and/or finished product.
7. Make minor adjustments to machine to ensure product conformance.
8. Places correct units in bags, trays or rolls as stipulated by the packing instructions.
9. Removes waste or excess material from in and around the machine.
10. Ensures that all contaminated or rejected material are bagged, properly labelled and weighed for recycle. Document quantity of waste and remove to the designated area.
11. Maintains a report of the total amount of finished product manufactured on the machine per shift.
12. Always maintains a safe and clean work environment.
