Job summary

The Fitness Center at the Buffalo Grove Park District is seeking energetic Group Exercise Instructors to lead Zumba classes. Candidates should have a High School Diploma, current Exercise Instructor and CPR certifications, and a minimum of two years of teaching experience.

Responsibilities include leading high-quality classes, maintaining participation rates, and collaborating with staff and members. Employees working 8 hours or more weekly will receive a free Fitness Center pass along with other program discounts.

Job description

The Fitness Center at the Buffalo Grove Park District is looking for energetic and talented Group Exercise Instructors to lead Zumba Group Exercise classes. This person should be able to maintain a positive working attitude with other instructors, staff and members.

Essential Functions

1. Lead high quality classes that match the class description and meet members’ needs. Is able to program, deliver and adapt based on the class participants.
2. Must find a sub if unable to teach a scheduled class; willing and available to sub for other instructors when needed.
3. Attend any department meetings, read and respond to all e‑mail communications in a timely manner.
4. Arrive to class early to set up equipment and room, check in participants, and clean up afterwards.
5. Establish relationships with participants to build class participation. Maintain a minimum average of 8 participants per class.
6. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

1. High School Diploma or GED equivalent
2. Maintain a current Group Exercise Instructor Certification from ACE, AFFA or AEA
3. Maintain a current CPR Certification
4. Minimum of two years teaching experience

Salary Rate

$27+ per class, depending on experience
