The Saint Louis Zoo is seeking an exceptional Zoological Manager of Herpetology & Aquatics to oversee the Stingrays at Caribbean Cove and support the WildCare Institute. The role leads a large team of keepers, ensuring top-tier animal welfare, operational excellence, and engaging guest experiences.

This is a working management position requiring hands-on animal care, strong leadership, and collaboration with curators and external partners to advance conservation initiatives and departmental

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of aquatics management experience in a zoological setting.

Responsibilities

• Manage daily operations of the Caribbean Cove habitat featuring sharks and rays to provide interactive guest experiences.
• Lead ambassador animal programs and ensure welfare, staff safety, and guest satisfaction.
• Coordinate behind-the-scenes tours, educational programming, and interactive animal experiences with the Guest Experience team.
• Oversee the Herpetology and Aquatics collection, water quality, and welfare records to ensure compliance.
• Collaborate with external partners and departments to support zoo operations and conservation initiatives.
• Recruit, supervise, mentor staff, interns, and volunteers; train on husbandry practices and guest interaction.
