Job summary

The San Antonio Zoo is hiring a Security Officer to patrol grounds, monitor access and respond to emergencies, ensuring guest safety and asset protection. You will write precise reports, assist guests, and coordinate with staff and responders to maintain a secure environment.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, 24/7 availability, and CPR/AED/First Aid certification within three months. A Texas DPS Level II certification is preferred, with a valid driver’s license and good physical

Qualifications

• Requires 24/7 availability, including nights and holidays.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Texas Level II Non-Commission Certification preferred.
• CPR/AED and First Aid certification within three months.
• Experience in security, loss prevention or public safety preferred.
• Ability to walk 80 acres and stand up to 10 hours outdoors.
• Valid driver’s license with a clear record.

Responsibilities

• Patrol zoo grounds and surrounding areas to deter theft and safety violations.
• Monitor access control and verify credentials.
• Respond to emergencies per ERP; provide first aid.
• Monitor surveillance cameras and alarms.
• Prepare clear incident and activity reports.
• Assist guests with directions and information.
• Collaborate with staff, law enforcement and responders.
• Follow directives from supervisors and maintain professionalism.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
