Job summary

Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) seeks a skilled Facilities Manager to lead Prospect Park Zoo's Operations Department in New York. You will direct maintenance, repairs, safety, and vendor coordination to deliver a premier guest experience.

The role requires at least five years in facilities management, hands-on knowledge of plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, HVAC, and building systems, plus a BS/BA in a related field and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of facilities management experience as maintenance manager or supervisor.
• Hands-on experience with plumbing, carpentry, electrical systems, construction, HVAC, and BMS.
• Experience with Microsoft Office and facility management/work order software.
• Ability to track and report department activities.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• BSc/BA in facility management, engineering or similar field.
• Valid Driver's license.
• NYC Certificates of Fitness requirements including various certifications.

Responsibilities

• Direct the O&M department's function across the Zoo, including maintenance, repairs, and grounds.
• Maintain park cleanliness, safety, and restroom facilities.
• Oversee budget and expenditures; prepare the annual O&M operating budget.
• Provide safety standards for staff, public, and animals.
• Coordinate with contractors, Parks staff, and vendors.
• Ensure training and certifications for staff and maintain records.
• Communicate with other departments and external agencies as needed.
• Represent Operations in meetings and advisory groups.
• Maintain relationships with Prospect Park Alliance and related entities.
