Job description

The Chattanooga Zoo is seeking an experienced zookeeper to join our primate team. We house a variety of primates, including chimpanzees, mangabeys, pied tamarins, emperor tamarins, golden lion tamarins, white-faced marmosets, and cotton-top tamarins. Candidates with extensive primate experience, especially with large primates, are strongly preferred. Please specify your experience with particular species.

Responsibilities include daily husbandry, record keeping, enclosure maintenance, assisting in veterinary procedures, medication administration, implementing training and enrichment programs, and supporting special projects. The keeper must ensure compliance with USDA and AZA standards, including record keeping, husbandry, training, and enrichment.

Applicants should have a 4-year college degree or equivalent experience, with at least 3 years in animal care, preferably in an AZA-accredited facility. Experience with Great Apes or primates is highly desirable. The role requires physical ability to lift, bend, and twist 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions.
