Job summary

The City of Franklin seeks a Planner to assist in ensuring zoning and municipal code compliance for submitted development plans. The role involves reviewing site plans, plats, and construction plans, and coordinating with multiple departments to provide thorough responses.

Responsibilities include plan examinations, public service duties, and enforce­ment of zoning ordinances. Requires a Bachelor's in relevant field and knowledge of land use, zoning, and building codes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in urban planning, environmental studies, political science or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of related experience; or 5 years in city planning.
• ICC Zoning Inspector Certification within nine months.

Responsibilities

• Review development plans to ensure compliance with zoning ordinance and development standards.
• Provide technical assistance to developers, professionals, and property owners on ordinances and regulations.
• Oversee addressing manual, land coding system, and development report coordination.
• Review documents and assist in preparing reports, maps, and data as needed.
• Enforce zoning and municipal codes; testify in court as required.
