The Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association is seeking a Zoning Officer for a full-time, in-person position in Williamsport, PA. Under the Director of Planning & Community Development, you will administer Municipal Zoning Ordinances and assist with County zoning permits.

The role emphasizes communicating the purposes of zoning to the public, handling technical and legal matters, and coordinating with applicants and officials.

Qualifications

• Associates’ degree in Planning or related field or equivalent experience.
• Knowledge of zoning regulations and public outreach.
• Ability to communicate complex technical and legal matters; strong written and oral communication.
• Proficiency with data tools (databases, spreadsheets, word processing) and graphics.
• Valid PA driver’s license and acceptable background check.

Responsibilities

• Administer Municipal Zoning Ordinances.
• Assist with County Zoning permits.
• Promote public understanding of zoning purposes and land-use regulation.
• Participate in monthly Zoning Hearing Board meetings as needed.
