Job summary

Responsibilities

  • Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards applicable to the position.
  • Report all serious incidents and daily activities to the Shelter Manager.
  • Assist with shift schedules and staff assignments to ensure safety of residents and staff.
  • Monitor, coordinate, and delegate daily facility operations tasks during shifts.
  • Know procedures for dispensing non-prescription medications when medical staff are not on duty.
  • Supervise interactions of service population to promote positive behavior and responsibility in daily routines.
  • Plan and supervise activities for children according to the daily schedule.
  • Identify routine maintenance needs and report to the Shelter Manager.
  • Participate in meetings, trainings, and team decisions.
  • Assist in household laundry and cleaning of bedrooms and living areas.
  • Maintain records of clothing and personal items in a timely manner.
  • Arrange air and ground transportation for residents when needed.
  • Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by supervisor.
  • Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuations in emergencies.
  • Maintain professional conduct per employee handbook and dress code.

Meet all federal and state regulatory guidelines and standards that are applicable to this position.2. Report all serious incident and daily activities to the Shelter Manager.3. Assist with the development of shift schedules and staff assignments to ensure the safety of the servicepopulation and coworkers.4. Monitor, coordinate, and delegate daily facility operations tasks as needed throughout the shift.5. Know the procedures for and monitor proper dispensing of non-prescription medications when medical staffare not on duty.6. Supervise the general interaction of the service population by promoting positive interaction betweenchildren, encouraging children to take on responsibility in the daily routine.7. Plan, organize, and supervise activities for children in accordance with the daily activity schedule.8. Identify routine maintenance work/repair and report it to the Shelter Manager.9. Participate in scheduled meetings, in-service training, and team decisions.10. Assist in the household laundry of linens, children’s clothing and routine cleaning of bedrooms and living areas.11. Ensure that records regarding clothing and personal items are maintained and updated in an accurate and timely manner.12. Assume responsibility for scheduling air and ground transportation of the service population when needed.13. Work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed or requested by position supervisor.14. Implement Compass Connections safety protocols including evacuating with the children and other staff in case of an emergency.15. Maintain Compass Connections professional and ethical standards of conduct outlined in CompassConnections employee handbook including demonstrating respect for agency staff, children, and community members and complying with required dress code at all times.Other Responsibilities:1. Supervise the unit managers assigned to this position and solicit ideas from providing constructive feedbackto all supervised staff regarding work habits, communication, and safety.2. Mentor and assist new hires and coworkers during the general observation training period.3. Complete timely and accurate documentation in accordance with agency policies and procedures andcontract and regulatory requirements and standards.4. Frequently transverse from one area of the physical plant to another.5. Meet all deadlines required by program supervisor and federal partners.Requirements:1. Pass a pre-employment drug screen and random drug screens throughout employment.2. Provide proof of work eligibility status upon request.3. Pass a pre-employment and biennial criminal background checks.4. Demonstrate the ability to:a. Respond sensitively and competently to the service population’s cultural and socio-economic characteristics.b. Work collaboratively with other staff members, service providers and professionals.c. Provide crisis intervention according to training provided by Compass Connections when needed to maintain a safe environment.d. Work in a fast-paced environment and maintain emotional control and professional composure at all times.e. Maintain computer literacy required to meet the responsibilities of the position.f. Work effectively and without intensive supervision both independently and as a member of a multidisciplinary team.5.
