Job summary

Johns Hopkins Intrastaff seeks a Zone Mechanic Skilled Worker to perform routine maintenance including lighting upgrades, fixture replacements, and basic building repairs at 1800 Orleans Street, Baltimore, MD. The role operates Monday–Friday with occasional weekend shifts, and pays $19–$23 per hour.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED and about 1 year in construction trades (plumbing, carpentry, electrical or mechanical).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 1 year related work experience in a construction trade such as plumbing, carpentry, electrical or mechanical.
• Knowledge of basic electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and plumbing tools and materials.
• Familiar with safety rules and OSHA standards.
• Ability to use tools and materials safely.
• Ability to solve problems and manage information.
• Proficient written and verbal English communication at high school level or higher.

Responsibilities

• Change fluorescent and incandescent lights, ballasts, and fixtures.
• Replace ceiling tiles and repair fixtures and dispensers.
• Transport beds and inspect/repair shop equipment; assist maintenance mechanics.
• This work uses electrical, carpentry, mechanical, and plumbing trades under supervision.
