Job summary

The University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks a Zone Manager for Housekeeping to supervise a major campus area, set schedules, and ensure standards of cleanliness and safety. The role requires coordinating with department heads and staff to maintain high service levels.

Shifts run 6:00 pm–2:30 am Tue–Sat with some flexible time on Saturdays. Requires a high school diploma or GED plus relevant experience and a NC driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Graduation from High School or possession of a GED, and one year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination.
• Five years of supervisory experience, with at least three years in institutional housekeeping and floorcare.
• Completion of high school and five years’ experience in housekeeping work, three of which were in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• The Housekeeping Zone Manager performs a variety of duties which include assisting in the direction of the department and supervising housekeeping functions within a major area of the campus.
• Duties include inspecting for cleanliness and maintenance needs and contacting departmental heads, professors, and support staff daily.

Brief Summary of Work for this Position

The Housekeeping Zone Manager performs a variety of duties which include assisting in the direction of the department. This position supervises housekeeping functions within a major area of the campus, determining housekeeping requirements within this assigned area; and prepares work schedules and individual workloads. Duties of this position also include inspecting for cleanliness and maintenance needs, and contact with departmental heads, professors, and support staff on a daily basis.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Minimum Training and Education at the entry level: Graduation from High School or possession of a GED , and one year of experience in the area assigned; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Preferred education, professional skills and experience

• Five years of supervisory experience, with at least three years in institutional housekeeping and floorcare.
• Thorough technical knowledge of housekeeping procedures; ability to plan and implement necessary staff training programs; and ability to establish and maintain rapport with university management, staff and subordinates.
• Completion of high school and five years’ experience in housekeeping work, three of which were in a supervisory capacity, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
