Job description

Miss Kim Korean Restaurant, a part of Zingerman's Community of Businesses, is looking for line cooks!

Compensation: $21.50-$23.50/hour

We are seeking full-time line cooks (4-5 shifts per week). Initially, training will be in the evening (4pm-11pm), with the possibility of transitioning to daytime shifts (10am-5pm) after training. Candidates should be available to work at least two evening shifts on Friday, Saturday, or Sunday, totaling around 35 hours per week. Compensation includes a $12.50/hour starting wage plus $9-$11/hour in tips, totaling $21.50-$23.50 per hour.

There is a $0.50/hour raise after completing orientation. Our pay structure is transparent, with opportunities for cross-training and advancement.

The dinner shift generally starts at 4pm and ends around 10:30pm-11:30pm. Lunch shifts begin between 9am-10am and end by 4pm or 5pm.

About Miss Kim

Performance Expectations - Essential Functions:

  • Work on the line under the chef's guidance, setting up stations, cooking to specifications, communicating effectively, and remaining calm under pressure.
  • Prepare food according to recipes, accurately weighing ingredients and maintaining quality standards.
  • Clean equipment efficiently and accurately.
  • Adhere to all of Zingerman's standards.
  • Ensure food quality and presentation meet standards.
  • Complete Training Passport within designated timeframes and uphold the Training Compact.
  • Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures as needed.
  • Keep workstations organized and clean.
  • Communicate effectively with all staff members.
  • Taste dishes on the station to ensure they meet specifications.

Performance Patterns:

  • At least one year of line cook experience preferred but not required.
  • Reputation for good relations with staff and maintaining a safe, clean kitchen.
  • Experience in Asian cuisine is a plus but not required; training will be provided.
  • Availability to work weekends and Sundays.
