Must Haves:
- 4+ years of experience in network engineering, architecture, or security engineering.
- Experience with cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP, or Oracle Cloud).
- Hands-on experience with enterprise security technologies (Splunk, Palo Alto, Cisco, Zscaler, Microsoft Security, ELK, etc.).
- Familiarity with NIST, RMF, FedRAMP, FISMA, and related security frameworks.
- Knowledge of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) principles.
Day to Day:
Our client is seeking a Zero Trust Cyber Security Engineer to support enterprise Zero Trust (ZT) initiatives and help drive the adoption of Zero Trust Architecture (ZTA) across both cloud and on-premises environments. This individual will partner closely with government stakeholders and technical teams to assess current-state environments, identify security gaps, develop implementation roadmaps, and advance the organization's Zero Trust maturity in support of 2027 and 2032 objectives.
This role will serve as a key contributor within one of the Department of Defense Zero Trust pillars, with a particular focus on Visibility & Analytics, ensuring mission success while protecting critical data, systems, and personnel.
Responsibilities
- Perform Zero Trust readiness assessments, including gap analyses, maturity assessments, and current-state evaluations.
- Develop and execute Zero Trust implementation plans and migration roadmaps.
- Evaluate existing on-premises and cloud-based network enclaves and applications, identifying opportunities for Zero Trust adoption.
- Support the design and implementation of Zero Trust security controls across users, devices, networks, applications, data, and infrastructure.
- Research and evaluate emerging Zero Trust technologies and provide recommendations based on business and security requirements.
- Work with stakeholders across multiple organizations to coordinate Zero Trust initiatives, policies, communications, and implementation efforts.
- Develop recommendations for Zero Trust governance, policies, operating procedures, and organizational change management.
- Support enterprise architecture efforts related to Identity & Access Management (IAM), endpoint security, data security, policy engines, and trust engines.
- Utilize threat modeling methodologies to strengthen architecture, application, network, and data security controls.
- Map customer requirements and security frameworks including NIST, RMF, DISA, OMB, FedRAMP, and FISMA to technical security solutions.
- Assist with tracking and documenting enterprise Zero Trust progress against Department of Defense objectives and milestones.
- Serve as a subject matter expert within assigned Zero Trust pillars and mentor engineers, architects, security professionals, and program teams.
- Collaborate with government and industry partners to evaluate and influence Zero Trust best practices and standards.
- Stay current on emerging cybersecurity technologies, trends, and Zero Trust capabilities.
