Job Title: z/OS Programmer

Location: Plano, TX (90% Remote)

Job Summary:

Toyota is seeking a highly experienced and reliable z/OS Programmer with 18+ years of hands-on mainframe expertise. The ideal candidate will demonstrate mastery of z/OS environments, JCL scripting, SMP/E maintenance, and REXX programming, while also possessing a strong ability to troubleshoot performance issues and collaborate across technical and operational teams. This is a W2-only opportunity for someone who thrives in mission-critical environments and has a proven track record in enterprise mainframe systems.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize mainframe applications using REXX, JCL, and z/OS tools
• Perform software maintenance and deployments using SMP/E
• Troubleshoot and resolve batch job issues, abends, and system-level failures
• Use TSO/ISPF and SDSF to manage and monitor job execution
• Participate in performance tuning, capacity planning, and workload automation
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support high-priority business initiatives
• Create and maintain scripts for automated deployment and job scheduling
• Contribute to documentation and follow established change control processes

Required Qualifications:

• 9+ years of experience in mainframe development and operations
• Expertise in z/OS, JCL, REXX, SMP/E, TSO/ISPF, JES2, SDSF
• Strong background in mainframe utilities (IEBGENER, SORT, IDCAMS, etc.)
• In-depth knowledge of VSAM, dataset management, and job scheduling
• Demonstrated success in batch process optimization and root cause analysis
• Proven ability to work on critical, high-availability production systems

Preferred Skills:

• Experience with COBOL, PL/I, or assembler
• Familiarity with DevOps on mainframe tools (e.g., Control-M, CA7, IBM UrbanCode)
• Knowledge of RACF and mainframe security configurations
• Exposure to mainframe-to-cloud integration, z/OS Connect, or MQ
• Participation in mainframe modernization projects

Education:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent experience
