Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Dragonfruit, a remote-first creator and education media studio, is seeking a YouTube Scriptwriter to craft world-class scripts that combine editorial storytelling with direct-response persuasion. You’ll write long-form and short-form content built on clarity, structure, and emotional momentum for a roster of world-class creators and founders.
You’ll use direct-response frameworks and platform insights to hook viewers, sustain attention, and drive measurable outcomes, while matching client voices
Four years ago, Dragonfruit set out to bring together some of the most talented visual storytellers, viral video strategists, and big-name clients, to change the way we create and consume on YouTube. The result has been bigger than we could have imagined, having generated over a billion organic views and hundreds of millions of subscribers for creators like MrBeast, Ali Abdaal, Mark Manson, Chris Williamson, Codie Sanchez, and orgs like Y Combinator, e.l.f beauty, WHOOP, ClickUp, Center for Humane Technology and more.
Dragonfruit's Mission
Dragonfruit exists to help the world's most important ideas travel farther. We partner with experts, educators, scientists, founders, and creators to turn deep knowledge into media people actually want to watch, share, and act on. In a world where attention is often optimized for noise, we're building a company that rewards clarity, substance, and human impact, combining creative judgment, production craft, and AI-powered systems to help better information reach more people. Our mission is to build the creative infrastructure for a healthier, more thoughtful internet.
The Role
As Dragonfruit's YouTube Scriptwriter, you'll operate at the intersection of editorial storytelling and direct-response persuasion, crafting scripts that don't just entertain, but move people to think, feel, and act.
This role blends the mindset of a VSL and funnel copywriter with deep YouTube-native storytelling. You'll write long-form and short-form scripts built on clarity, structure, and emotional momentum, while still feeling human, credible, and editorial-first.
Day-to-day, you'll own script development across our client roster, getting first look at raw ideas from world-class creators and $100M+ founders, and transforming those ideas into high-performing videos. You'll use direct-response frameworks, psychological storytelling, and platform-specific insights to write scripts that hook fast, sustain attention, and compound impact.
This is a role for writers who understand that modern YouTube rewards response marketers and behavioral copywriters, those who know how to structure ideas around curiosity, tension, payoff, and belief change, without sacrificing substance or integrity.
How the job actually works
Our team is organized into pods, each covering a small group of client accounts. The Creative Director owns the creative concept for each video and has final oversight of the script, and the Scriptwriter owns the execution of the script: structure, hook, argument, and the language that carries it. Most of what you'll write is talking-head and expert-led long-form. It's a specific craft. Holding attention for twenty minutes with one person on camera and no spectacle to fall back on is much harder than it looks, and it's the core of the job.
