HANAC, Inc. is seeking a Youth Worker (Temporary) to support after-school activities and assist instructors in delivering the program curriculum at PS 110Q in Corona, NY.

The role involves supervising participants, helping with a variety of activities, and ensuring a safe, engaging environment. The position is hourly, non-exempt, seasonal from October 2026 through June 2027, with a schedule of Monday–Thursday 2:00 pm to 5:30 pm.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • At least one year of relevant experience in an educational or childcare setting.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the health, safety and well-being of the participants in the program by providing close supervision of all activities.
  • Will help the Group Leaders supervise, participate in and administer recreational activities for youth, and families.
  • Provide a safe and fun environment for participants in the After-School Program.
  • Assisting in the implementation of a variety of age-appropriate and theme related activities.
  • Assist with distribution and collection of parent surveys.
  • Work cooperatively with peers, professional staff, and other departments.
  • Maintain equipment, storage facilities and inventory.
  • Work closely with the program administration to ensure best practices/program quality.
  • Consults with the Program Director when difficult or unfamiliar situations arise.
  • Actively participate in all trainings sessions, designated meetings and special events.
  • Will maintain a close relationship and report to the Program Director and the Assistant Director for delegated tasks and future assignments.
  • Completes all job-related tasks and uses program time effectively during schedule working hours.

Position Summary

The Youth Worker will be an energetic individual who will assist the Teacher, Instructor or Group Leader during Afterschool Activities and support the program curriculum. The Youth Workers will facilitate activities but not limited to homework help, arts & crafts, sports, health & fitness, nutrition, dance, and STEM education.
The Youth Workers/Counselor responsibilities are but not limited to:
