Job summary

YMCA of Greater New York seeks staff to provide a fun, safe environment for participants and to foster learning through progressive sports lessons. You will support youth development and encourage ongoing physical activity, while upholding YMCA core values.

The role requires First Aid/CPR and YMCA Coaching 101 training within specified windows, with a focus on inclusive, respectful engagement across age groups. Benefits include memberships and health offerings.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of one year experience teaching children/teens sports in structured setting.
• Knowledge of youth development stages.
• Content expert in designated sports activity.
• Ability to communicate effectively with members of all ages.
• Current First Aid or CPR certifications.
• YMCA Coaching 101 Training within 90 days of employment.
• CDC HEADS UP Concussion in Youth Sports certificate within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Provide a fun, safe, and positive experience for all participants.
• Demonstrate strong service and hospitality with all constituents, including program participants and parents/guardians.
• Create an all-inclusive and supportive learning environment.
• Teach progressive lessons and provide opportunities to demonstrate learned skills.
• Encourage a lifetime participation in sports and physical activity.
