Job summary

Child and Family Focus, Inc seeks a Certified Peer Specialist to mentor Transition Age Youth (ages 14-26) with serious mental illness, using lived experience to promote wellness and navigate community resources.

The CPS meets weekly in home and community with travel in own vehicle, including evenings. Part-time with potential to transition to full-time; starting rate $17/hour, with benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• Certified Peer Specialist (CPS) required.
• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver’s license, insurance, and vehicle required.
• Able to work at least 20 hours/week including 3 evenings.
• Reflect the culture and values of the Transition Age Youth population.
• Proficient reading, writing, and computer literacy.

Responsibilities

• Meet weekly with assigned youth.
• Travel locally in your own vehicle to offsite locations as required.
• Transport youth to community locations as needed.
• Document session activity in electronic health records and notes.
• Organize program files and complete paperwork by deadlines.
• Maintain a varied schedule, including evenings.
• Work individually and in teams with colleagues to support youth.
• Model and coach youth toward recovery using shared experiences.
• Assist youth in implementing coping strategies during crises.
• Support youth to access community events and develop natural supports.
• Promote trauma-informed care values in all work practices.
