Job summary

Children’s Services of Roxbury is seeking a Youth Advocacy Program Mentor (YAPM) to ensure youth voices are heard in transition planning toward adulthood. The role includes teaching youth to navigate community systems and advocating for themselves, and may involve transportation and home respite when aligned with treatment goals.

A qualified candidate will have lived experience with trauma and the ability to support YAAC leadership and development efforts within the program.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of the unique needs of youth and young adults facing mental health challenges.
• Lived experience with trauma, homelessness, LGBTQ+, or related adversity.
• Experience navigating behavioral health or related systems as a young person.

Responsibilities

• Engage youth in activities to address goals on the transition plan and teach system navigation.
• Provide core staffing for the Drop In center and support YAAC initiatives.
• Lead outreach to educate youth and community stakeholders about programs and services.
• Support leadership development activities and foster positive youth-adult relationships.
• Promote healthy lifestyles and assist in developing employment readiness.
