Job summary

First Place for Youth seeks a Youth Advocate to provide case management, psycho-social assessment, and intervention planning for transitioned-age foster youth in Oakland. The role blends onsite and community work through our Transitional Living Program to support housing stability, sustainable employment, and educational achievement.

Youth Advocates lead a multi-disciplinary team, deliver counseling, and coordinate with county workers, educators, and housing specialists.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in social work, psychology, counselling or equivalent.
• Master’s degree preferred in social work, psychology or counselling.
• Fluency in Spanish (reading, writing, speaking) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual counseling and crisis intervention to youth.
• Conduct case management and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams.
• Document care plans, progress notes, and consent forms.
• Offer coaching to promote housing stability, employment and education goals.
• Participate in on-call coverage and occasional evenings/weekends.
