Job summary

YMCA of NorthWest North Carolina is seeking a Bus Driver with a Commercial Driver’s License to provide safe transportation for participants in before/after school, camp and youth development programs.

The role requires CDL, knowledge of safety protocols, and the ability to communicate route times to staff and families. Flexible part-time shifts are offered, with a focus on safety and ADA compliance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED or equivalent; 1–3 months of related training/experience accepted.
• Must pass a driver road test and a NC criminal background check.
• Current CPR/First Aid/AED/Oxygen certification required (or obtainable within 60 days).
• Flexible part-time schedule: 7:00 AM–9:00 AM and/or 2:00 PM–6:00 PM, Mon–Fri; evenings/weekends as needed.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate YMCA buses and passenger vehicles for youth programs following routes.
• Enforce passenger safety rules and maintain orderly transportation.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections; report maintenance needs.
• Communicate with staff, school coordinators, and parents about routes and times.
• Assist staff during camps, supervise youth, aid loading/unloading, and respond to emergencies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
