Job summary

Yellowstone Boys and Girls Ranch is seeking a Therapeutic Youth Mentor to build trusting, therapeutic relationships with youth receiving mental health services. You will model healthy behavior, support treatment goals, and lead skill-building activities focusing on communication and emotional regulation.

Responsibilities include crisis support, accurate EHR documentation, and collaboration with therapists, families, and community partners to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

• Strong ability to build rapport with youth receiving mental health services.
• Excellent active listening and communication skills.
• Ability to work with youth individually and in groups.
• Knowledge of confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Responsibilities

• Build trusting, professional relationships with youth in care.
• Serve as a positive role model with healthy boundaries.
• Assist youth in achieving treatment plan goals with the team.
• Lead skill-building activities in communication, problem-solving, and emotional regulation.
• Accompany youth in community settings to promote socialization and independence.
• Provide crisis support and de-escalation when needed, per protocols.
• Document accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
• Collaborate with therapists, families, and partners for coordinated care.
• Participate in supervision, meetings, and ongoing training.
• Be aware of cultural and socioeconomic contexts of youth served.
