Job summary

New York Junior Tennis & Learning (NYJTL) is seeking part-time Tennis Coaches to support afterschool programs at multiple sites across NYC. You will supervise youth, run drills, and help guide matches while maintaining safe, engaging tennis experiences.

Ideal candidates have extensive tennis teaching background, completion of NYJTL coaching seminars, and familiarity with QuickStart formats for young players. This role supports schools and community programs in the five boroughs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 5+ years of teaching tennis and working in school programs.
• Pre-employment basic tennis skills assessment.
• Previous tennis coach experience preferred.
• Completion of NYJTL or similar coaching seminars.
• Experience with operating tennis tournaments and QuickStart format.

Responsibilities

• Adheres to positive coaching philosophy, motivating participants through encouragement and praise.
• Lead in teaching and practice programs.
• Facilitates and supervises matches, recording scores and results.
• Manage court setup and breakdown, ensuring cleanliness and safety.
• Maintain program records including participation and performance.
• Assess participant tennis skills and refer to appropriate NYJTL programs.
• May supervise other coaches at site and assist with all program operations.
