Job summary

Madison School & Community Recreation (MSCR) offers swim instruction for all ages across MMSD pools. This role supports lead instructors in Red Cross Learn-to-Swim classes, helping create a fun, safe learning environment for youths and beginners.

Applicants must be at least 15, enjoy working with youth of all abilities, and be able to swim 25 yards of all strokes or be willing to learn to Level 4; deep-water comfort is required. Opportunities exist for Lifeguarding/WSI certification through MSCR.

Qualifications

• At least 15 years of age.
• Interest in working with youth of all abilities.
• Ability to swim 25 yards of all six strokes to Level 4 (or willingness to learn).
• Comfort in deep water up to 12 feet.

Responsibilities

• Assist lead instructors in teaching Red Cross Learn-to-Swim programs.
• Engage with swimmers and create a fun learning environment.
• Learn valuable skills in lesson planning and co-teaching (optional path for future leadership).
