Job summary

State of Missouri, Division of Youth Services, is seeking a part-time Social Services Aide/Community Mentor to support day treatment and residential youth programs. You will transport youth, mentor them, and assist with education, employment and community resources, while maintaining professional boundaries and confidentiality.

Starting hourly rate is $16.84, with potential pay differentials. This position is hourly/temporary with no benefit eligibility.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and the role of the family.
• Knowledge of communicating with adolescent clients.
• Understanding causes of juvenile delinquency and current treatment approaches.
• Ability to interact with clients in an empathetic and understanding manner.
• Ability to communicate effectively with clients, family members and treatment staff.
• Ability to interact professionally with the community.

Responsibilities

• Transport youth to school, appointments, and activities in a state vehicle.
• Engage with youth to develop constructive relationships and provide structure.
• Provide extra contact for high-risk youth.
• Monitor clients during home visits from facility.
• Serve as a positive role model and support system.
• Provide tutoring or academic assistance with schoolwork.
• Assist clients in securing employment and community resources.
• Meet with supervisor regularly and document client progress.
• Maintain confidential written logs of client contacts.
