Job summary

The Kentucky Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) seeks a Youth Worker I at 15600 Turner Road, Crittenden, KY 41030. This full-time executive branch role includes overtime eligibility and a 40-hour work week.

Salary starts at $39,127.68 annually with locality, shift, weekend, and holiday premiums. Candidates must complete DJJ Training Academy within six months and possess a valid driver’s license.

• EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS: NONE
• Substitute EDUCATION for EXPERIENCE: NONE
• Substitute EXPERIENCE for EDUCATION: NONE
• SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS (AGE, LICENSURE, REGULATION, ETC.): Must possess a valid driver's license prior to employment. Must complete the Department of Juvenile Justice Training Academy within six months of employment. Must maintain required licensure(s) or certifications.

Responsibilities

• Maintains custody and control of juveniles in a custodial setting and assists juveniles in interpersonal skill development.
• Maintains shift logs, incident reports, and wellness checks; monitors entry/exit and ensures safety.
• Provides support services for routine maintenance and attends staff meetings, case conferences, and trainings.
• Be able to exert physical effort in the proper restraint of residents based on behavior.
• May perform other physical efforts in assisting youth with recreational and work related projects.
• This position is essential and designated for mandatory operations; overtime and various shifts may apply.
• Must maintain a valid driver’s license for the length of employment.
