Job summary

YMCA of Pierce and Kitsap Counties in Gig Harbor, WA is seeking a Youth Sports Staff member for part-time hours at Tom Taylor Family YMCA. You will lead youth activities, teach sports, and reinforce YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Responsibilities include skill development, age-appropriate lesson planning, supervision of participants, and promoting safety. Requires at least 15 years old, willingness to train, and background checks; CPR/First Aid preferred.

Qualifications

  • Minimum age 15 or older.
  • Six months or more of related experience preferred.
  • Ability to instruct participants in techniques.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications preferred.
  • Positive attitude and teamwork.
  • Willingness to complete background/reference checks as required.
  • Commitment to diversity and inclusive environment.
  • Complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, plus additional required training.

Responsibilities

  • Encourage sportsmanship and teachable moments reflecting YMCA values.

Job description

Position: Youth Sports Staff

Wage: $17.13 to $17.13 per hour(Compensation is determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range)

Hours: Part-Time, Up to 25 hours per week

Location: Tom TaylorFamily YMCA, Gig Harbor, WA

As a Youth Sports Staff, you will be responsible for instructing class participants in various sports, games, and activities while providing quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 15 years of age or older.
  • Six months or more of related experience (preferred).
  • The ability to instruct participants in techniques.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications (preferred).
  • Positive attitude.
  • Knowledge and skills in programming, activities, and sports.
  • Must be able to pass Background and Reference checks (in accordance with the WA State Fair Chance Act).
  • Committed to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
  • Able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on first day, and other online and in-person training as required.

Youth Sports Staff Job Description

Position Summary

The Youth Sports Staff will instruct class participants in various sports, games, and activities. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and assist participants in skill development, game play, and activities appropriate for each age
  • Encourage sportsmanship and teachable moments to implement our core
  • Assist in creating age appropriate lesson plans to ensure fun, high-energy
  • Work alongside volunteers to assist with
  • Follow guidelines for the implementation of the activity
  • Track program
  • Responsible for class participant's supervision and

  • Provide touch cards and in person communication to parents advertising upcoming events and need for class
  • Meet performance measurement by telling the Y story and raising charitable dollars to fulfill our
  • Assist staff leadership team in reaching campaign goals through recruiting campaigners, making personal asks and supporting branch events.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.

Must frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift or move a higher amount.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Occasionally may need to plan and participate in programming outdoors.
