Job summary

The YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking an on-site, part-time official to officiate youth and teen sports. You will create a safe, inclusive environment and provide a high-quality experience to participants and families.

Responsibilities include officiating games, following YMCA policies, building positive relationships, and attending trainings as required. Candidates should be at least 16, have first aid/CPR preferred, and be ready for 90-day training in a collaborative team setting.

Qualifications

  • Must be 16 years of age or older.
  • First aid certification (state-approved) preferred.
  • CPR certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of the sport.
  • Experience in officiating preferred.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • At hire, or earliest training (but no later than 90 days after employment).

Responsibilities

  • Officiates games in accordance with YMCA rules and guidelines.
  • Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including medical, disciplinary and emergency procedures.
  • Develops positive relationships with participants.
  • Sets up and takes down equipment. Reports any equipment needs.
  • Attends staff meetings and approved trainings as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

  • Officiate a variety of sports programs for youth and teens. Create a safe, enjoyable, positive and inclusive environment that welcomes people of all skill and activity levels. Provide a quality experience to participants and families.

Hiring Range: $21.30 – $22.00/hour DOE

Code of Conduct for Applicants

All employees and volunteers are responsible for adhering to abuse prevention policies, maintaining appropriate boundaries, completing required training, reporting suspicious or inappropriate behavior, and complying with mandated reporting requirements. Responsible for ensuring staff are properly screened, trained, supervised and held accountable to the organization’s abuse risk management standards.

Qualifications
  • 16 years of age or older.
  • Current state‑approved first aid certification preferred.
  • Current state‑approved CPR certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of the sport.
  • Experience in officiating preferred.
  • Other applicable education, training, and experience which provide the knowledge, abilities, and skills necessary to perform effectively in the position will be considered.
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations.
  • Other duties assigned.
  • At hire, or earliest possible training (but no later than 90 days after employment).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations (language, culture, race, physical ability, sexual orientation, etc.). Ability to speak any language in addition to English may be helpful.
