Job summary

YMCA of Greater Seattle is seeking a supervisor for youth development and family programs. You will oversee youth sports, wellness, recreation, Kids Club, and teen programs, ensuring safe, high-quality delivery and staff oversight.

The role involves hiring and training staff, maintaining staff ratios, and coordinating with families and community partners. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and PTO. Salary ranges $24.00–$26.40 per hour, DOE.

Qualifications

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience delivering programming in child care, youth sports, wellness, recreation, or camp.
  • Three or more years of experience working with children.
  • One year or more of supervisory experience.
  • Strong customer service skills; able to respond to multiple queries via phone, email, and in-person.
  • Strong computer skills; experience with word processing, spreadsheets, and database software.
  • Knowledge of standard office equipment (fax, copier, phone systems).
  • Current state-approved first-aid certification (at hire or within 90 days).
  • Current state-approved infant/child or community CPR certification (at hire or within 90 days).

Responsibilities

  • Supervise delivery of culturally relevant and developmentally appropriate activities for assigned program areas.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate staff and volunteers; assist with staff meetings and trainings.
  • Professionally engage parents/guardians to provide pertinent information about their child’s experience and promote upcoming programs.
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including medical, disciplinary, child‑abuse prevention, and emergency procedures.
  • Provide direct supervision to a group of children as needed.
  • Maintain required records per YMCA standards (attendance, registration, accident, and discipline reports).
  • Recruit new enrollments.
  • Ensure site supplies are maintained and purchased as necessary.
  • Assist with developing and monitoring department budgets.
  • Encourage member involvement, identify potential volunteers, and assist with the Annual Campaign.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Summary

Provides day‑to‑day supervision of youth development and family programs, which includes youth sports and wellness, recreation and enrichment, Kids Club/Kids Zone, family activities, and teen programs. The role serves on an engaging and dynamic team, ensuring the planning and implementation of developmentally appropriate activities and lesson plans are delivered to participants. It includes overseeing a safe, high‑quality program, supervising and evaluating staff and volunteers, hiring, training, maintaining required staff/child ratios, and conducting regular staff meetings. The position also maintains professional relationships with families, facility/school personnel, and the community.

Hiring Range: $24.00 – $26.40 / hour DOE
